The martial arts belt system is an excellent way to teach teens how to set, go after, and achieve goals. Teens start with short term goals such as earning a stripe on their belt. Mid-term goals such as testing for a new belt rank to the long-term goal of earning a black belt. The goal setting process is a recipe many students use to increase grades in school while boosting their self-esteem.
